-The Central Government Health Scheme
(CGHS) was started under the Indian Ministry of
Health and family Welfare in 1954 with the objective of providing comprehensive medical
care facilities to Central Government employees, pensioners and dependents enrolled -
under the Scheme residing in CGHS covered cities.

care needs to eligible beneficiaries covering all four pillars of democratic
setup in India namely legislature, Judiciary, executive & press.
ELIGIBLE BENEFICIARIES

All central Govt.employees drawing their salary from
Central Civil estimates and their dependent family members residing in CGHS covered
area.

Central Govt. Pensioners/ family pensioners receiving
pension from Central civil estimates and their eligible dependent family
members.

WELLNESS CENTRES TIMINGS AN
REGISTRATION
-
CGHS wellness Centres are open from 7:30 AM to 2 PM on
all working days from Monday to Saturay (Except Emergency Services where ever
applicable) with effect from 01/04/2015.
-
The Wellness Centres remain closed on all Central
Govt. Holidays. However in case of 3 consecutive holidays occurring together,
wellness centres will not be closed for more than 2 consecutive days.
Limited emergency services are
available in following 04 wellness Centres only in Delhi.

Kingsway Camp.
Timings of wellness centres with
emergency Services are as follows.
WC Timings 07:30 AM to 01:30 PM
Limited Emergency Services 01:30 PM to 07:30 AM there are also 06 First Aid
Posts (FAP) following locations in Delhi.

The Timings of these FAPs is from

Registration: - The registration
Starts on opening of the Centre and is stopped 15 minutes before scheduled
closing time of the Centre.
However, no serious patient is
returned back unattended.
ONLINE APPOINTMENT (REGISTRATION)
Online appointment with medical
officer of wellness centre or with specialist who visits a particular wellness
centre can be booked by visiting CGHS portal cghs.nic.in through link book
appointment.
CGHS CONTRIBUTION AND WARDS
ENTITLEMENT
Revised
monthly Subscription for CGHS facility w.e.f 1st January 2017 as
follows.
On 9th
Jan/2017 the Health ministry published the rates of monthly Subscription for
availing CGHS facility. The Central Govt pensioners have an option to get their
CGHS pensioners card by either making CGHS contribution on annual basis (12
months) or by making contribution 10 years for life time validity.
Note:- but
in case of join in RELHS shall be last month’s basic pay drawing or the
subscription rate indicated whichever is lower.

EXPANSION
OF CGHS TO MORE AREAS
-
CGHS is presently operational in 25 cities.
-
The government is opening at least one CGHS wellness
centre in 12 more cities.
-
The VIth CPC
had recommended that all postal dispensaries should be me merged with existing
CGHS centres.
-
At present CGHS is providing facilities about 36lakh
beneficiaries (Card holders and their depends) this includes 26 lakh serving
employees and their dependents
-
CGHS has a network of 273 allopathic an 85 AYUSH
wellness Centres, 73 labs, 19 poly Clinics, 19 dental Clinics, 04 hospitals and
2 geriatric Clinics (Delhi Only).
-
CGHS has also empanelled 750 private hospitals &
diagnostic centres.
PROVISION
OF MEDICAL FACILITIES FOR PENSIONERS LIVING OUTSIDE CGHS AREAS
-
Pensioners residing in non CGHS areas have three
options.
1.
They may draw FMS: - these case pensioners will have
to make their own arrangements for both IPD (Indoor) and OPD (Outdoor)
treatment.
2.
Pensioners may draw FMA for OPD and avail CGHS
benefits for IPD from the nearest CGHS City after making the required
Subscription to CGHS card.
3.
Pensioners may avail CGHS facility both for OPD an IPD
from the nearest CGHS city after making the required subscription to CGHS.
In case of
emergency, pensioners, under the second and the third options, can take
treatment in
a private hospital in the domicile city. However, such pensioners will have to make payment
upfront for their treatment and there after seek reimbursement from CGHS. This re-

Simplification of procedure for treatment in
Government and private Hospitals empanelled under CGHS without any requirement
of a referral(Permission) letter from Railway Doctor as is now done for CGHS.
